Jack K. Tsirakis was seen
in the credits of the 1989 movie "January Man" on TV last night (1/5/2010) -
the movie starred Kevin Kline, Susan Sarandon and Harvey Keitel with Rod
Steiger and several other well known actors - he was also in Moonstruck in
1987. [ This webmaster/genealogist has long been in the
habit of watching movie credits to discover family surnames or variations
thereof - several have been found that way. ]

[8/8/03 & 9/27/09: It's probably safe to assume that
there are going to be quite a few valid surnames beginning with "T" -
either silent or with the hard "TS" or "TZ" sound -- both probably coming
from the soft "C" and "S" as in 'SEER' which themselves somehow came from
the original hard "K" and "QU" ('CURE'). It's also possible that
old hand written documents containing the surnames of various small
children had such fancy script that the 'C's were misinterpreted as 'T's
- thereby bringing forth both new spellings and pronunciations for those
survivors of some calamity that wiped out all the adults who knew
better. Some of the possible spellings beginning with a 'T' and
contained in the M. Genz 470,000 surname
listing are:
