  1. uses friends' or relatives' memberships at discount or wholesale organizations to buy in bulk once or more per year;
  2. saves money by buying and storing non-perishable items in bulk when they are on sale;
  3. takes advantage of every government subsidy program available;
  4. does almost all his own home maintenance and repair work;
  5. recycles rainwater and everything else as much as possible, including good, high quality 'junk' thrown out by others.
